The 2017 Australian Heritage Festival theme 'Having a Voice' shares the many heritage stories through different voices and recognising the many narratives that have shaped Victoria. The oldest township in the Dandenong Ranges, Emerald, boasts a rich heritage in rail, gold and agriculture, and visitors have the opportunity to hear first-hand about Emerald's heritage.

Local historian, Graeme Legge will guide visitors on a picturesque walk around the Emerald township, sharing some of the amazing stories that lie behind the 11 buildings featured on the walk. The Emerald Heritage Walk is presented by Emerald Museum & Nobelius Heritage Nursery.

The Nobelius Heritage Park is four and a half hectares of public parkland, which is of unique historical and horticultural value to the State of Victoria. Take in another heritage experience by making your way to Emerald on Puffing Billy, Victoria's heritage steam train, leaving from Belgrave Station.
