Give a hoot and join Parks Victoria Rangers and environmental experts in an unforgettable setting and contribute to the management of a threatened species. Victoria is home to four large forest owls including the Powerful Owl, Barking Owl, Masked Owl and Sooty Owl. These magnificent creatures of the night are currently threatened and face increasing decline in light of continued habitat encroachment and de-fragmentation. All four owls have been located in small numbers at the foothills of the Victorian Alps throughout Baw Baw National Park and beyond. Ongoing monitoring is essential to assessing population numbers and territory to establish the protection of suitable habitat for the future. On this Naturewise trip you will experience one of Victoria's most significant natural and cultural regions. Owl monitoring will be conducted in the beautiful surrounds of Baw Baw National Park. You will also have the chance to experience Victoria's gold rush past with a visit to the historic town of Walhalla, and have a close encounter with some of Australia's native wildlife.
