Maurice Duruflé's Requiem, based on traditional Gregorian chant, was written in homage to Gabriel Faurés exquisite setting of the Mass for the Dead.The performance of Duruflé's 1948 version for choir, soloists, cello and organ is complemented by miniature masterpieces by other composers including Fauré, Bruckner, J.S.Bach (his so called seventh motet), and Australian composer Calvin Bowman, who is performing with the choir both in Melbourne and on the forthcoming European tour (Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic)The Melbourne Bach Choir, led by Musical Director and conductor Rick Prakhoff, is joined by soloists Belinda Patterson Mezzo-soprano and Jeremy Kleeman, Bass-baritone, together with Calvin Bowman, Organ, and Molly Kadarauch.
