Getting to grips with this microcosm of the best bits of Fitzroy is equal parts time consuming and rewarding. In just one strip you'll find bars, restaurants, galleries, boutiques, vintage wares and old-school pubs. You just need to decide where to begin.
Start the day with breakfast at Arcadia, De Clieu or Birdman Eating, and fuel up for browsing. Hit the galleries first – Gertrude Contemporary, Dianne Tanzer Gallery and the Australian Print Workshop – then the boutiques.
Linger over lunch or dinner at one of the strip's many acclaimed eateries – try Ladro, Gertrude Street Enoteca, Belle's Hot Chicken, or Cutler and Co – take in a nightcap at Marion or sophisticated Everleigh, and kick on at a gig at The Workers Club.
