1956 Mount Buller Road, Merrijig, Victoria, 3723

For fans of the John Marsden series "Tomorrow When The War Began," this walk takes the tour through the countryside which inspired Marsden's story. A tough trek which covers quite a distance, this trip sees you traverse six mountains - Magdala, Howitt, Buggery, Speculation, Koonika, and Cobbler (aka The Chief - you will see why when he is pointed out to you), as well as the famous Crosscut

Who should choose this hike?

Distance-wise, this hike has the longest days of all the multi-day trips, and they are by no means casual wanders. The first day heading up Helicopter Spur is absolutely fabulous fun, though the steep nature of the walk would probably limit its access to intermediate hikers - mainly because after you complete the spur, you have to summit two mountains. This trip is recommended for experienced walkers. I would recommend this trip for those experienced walkers seeking a true High Country adventure, or for those of you who looking for a real challenge.
