Mt Howitt is one of those fickle hills that likes to hide his head in the clouds, but the walk up the Howitt Spur is a true (albeit challenging) delight.

Mt Howitt is one of those fickle hills that likes to hide his head in the clouds, but the walk up the Howitt Spur is a true (albeit challenging) delight.

This walk features the iconic Crosscut Saw on you second day, and sees you camping at Mt Speculation, one of Skadi Adventures' favourite sites in the High Country. A truly beautiful, moderately challenging trek, rewarded with a swim at a favourite swimming hole before you debrief back at base on the last day.

Who should choose this hike?

Howitt Spur is a lengthy but picturesque walk, and is best suited to either new hikers willing to throw themselves into the deep end, or those who have done a bit of walking with a pack on who are keen to go on a lovely adventure. Additionally, the final day down King Spur is quite steep and enduring, and might not be suitable for hikers with a history of knee injuries. All up though, in the case of this trek, being resilient and determined are more key than being physically fit.
