Grampians

  • Aboriginal guided Hike at Mount William, The Grampians, Victoria, Australia

See why adventurers have been coming to the Grampians since the mid-nineteenth century, and sign up for your own outdoor adventure. Choose from hiking and rock-climbing, kayaking and canoeing, cycling and four-wheel driving.

The Grampians by foot
Traverse the Grampians National Park on a relaxing walk, stopping at scenic lookouts and spotting native animals, or on a challenging hike along rocky escarpments, to ancient rock art sites and remote campsites. For a walk to remember, take the path up through the Grampians' Grand Canyon to the sweeping views and unique rock formations of The Pinnacle. The Balconies, a short walk from Reed Lookout, is another great option. Avid adventurers will love the Grampians Peaks Trail, a multi-day hike taking in The Pinnacle and Mount Rosea.

Up and down the rock faces
Scale the face of rock-climbing and abseiling haven, Mt Arapiles. Learn the ropes from the professionals, or pit your well-honed rock-climbing experience against climbers from all over the world. Try your hand at some of the other rock-faces in the Grampians National Park, like the popular Mount Rosea. Pitch your tent in the campground and choose from a wide range of routes up the cliff.

On the water and beyond
Combine a kayaking or canoeing adventure at remote mountain lakes and rivers with a camping expedition or a biking adventure. Bring your mountain bike or hire one locally to explore the region. The wide streets of the regional centres are ideal for a casual cycle.

Four-wheel drives and gliders
Deviate from the beaten track by four-wheel drive in the Grampians National Park, and see a carpet of springtime wildflowers among the hundreds of kilometres of sandy tracks on a four-wheel-drive safari through Little Desert National Park.

Prefer to take to the skies? Get a bird's-eye view of the spectacular scenery on a gliding experience from the Ararat airfield.
