The Hope: From Robe to Riches Art Exhibition uses painting (oil, acrylic, watercolour) drawings, sketches and social media (timelapse YouTube videos)—to tell the story of the Chinese goldminers who arrived in Robe in 1857 and walked to the goldfields of Victoria.

The major goal of the exhibition is to attract art tourism to Ararat City.

The story is based on historical fact. It is fictionalised through the journey of a young girl called MeiLing. The artists involved are: David Chen, Gwen Krumins, Hugh Foster, Clive Sinclair, Norma Sullivan and Joanne Sullivan.

The exhibition will provide important educational content, in a unique format, about this heroic contribution to Australia's early Chinese migration history and will be of interest to:

Local and international tourists (art tourism)
Families of the goldminers
Chinese communities of Australia and China
Students (particularly of Australian History)
Storytellers
Film Makers
Painters
Historians
Cultural and tourism agencies

This exhibition is brought to you by Stellar Ideas and The Gum San Chinese Heritage Centre in Ararat.
