Castlemaine is a beautiful old gold mining town set in the centre of the Victorian goldfields.

In November 2016, during Melbourne Cup Week, Castlemaine and District opened 25 gardens across the Mt Alexander Shire celebrating it's Silver Jubilee year.

Volunteers manning the gates recorded more than 10,000 garden visits, countless cups tea, hundreds of scones and jam were consumed and plants, cuttings and seeds were carried away by visitors.

In the past 25 years Castlemaine and surrounds has seen hundreds of gardens - big, small, grand, cottage, rural or tucked away in the CBD - opened to the garden loving public.

As the Garden Festival is now every two years, a selection of gardens will be opened to the public during Cup week 2018.

Event will be held in various locations around Castlemaine. Stay tuned for the event calendar, coming soon.
