Port Albert

Gippsland

  • Port Albert, Gippsland, Victoria, Australia

Visit the charming port town of Port Albert for first-class fishing and stay for a fascinating history lesson. The original gateway to Gippsland, Port Albert is Victoria's first established port.

From the mid-1800s, Port Albert was the supply port for Gippsland's pioneers until the completion of the Melbourne-Sale railway in 1878.

More than 40 Georgian and Victorian-style buildings still exist in the town.

Port Albert's reputation for recreational fishing sees its population swell considerably during summer. Visit the Port Albert Maritime Museum, follow the Old Port Walking Trail, or enjoy scenic boat tours, fishing trips and bird watching.

Relax with a drink at the The Port Albert Hotel, the oldest continually licensed hotel in Victoria.
