  • MasterChef on location: Swan Hill on the Murray River, Victoria

MasterChef Australia returns to Melbourne for season nine of our favourite cooking show.

As contestants compete for the winning spot, judges George Calombaris, Gary Mehigan and Matt Preston introduce a sizzling line-up of local and international chefs.

This season, the amateur cooks are again treated to mentoring from Shannon Bennett — of Melbourne's Vue de monde and Burnham Beeches in the Dandenong Ranges — and guest appearances from the stars of Melbourne's restaurant scene. Ben Shewry, Christy Tania, Darren Purchese and Curtis Stone, among others, bring fresh challenges to the competition.

Heston Blumenthal returns to take the contestants on a week-long road trip extravaganza taking in some of Victoria’s many extraordinary culinary experiences and settings. The team uncover some of Victoria's biggest secrets as they travel from Melbourne to Swan Hill and the produce rich Murray food bowl around Mildura, to Brim in the expansive Wimmera-Mallee wheat belt region of the Grampians, and the stunning Mornington Peninsula gourmet region.

Follow this year's best home cooks, as they find inspiration in spectacular surrounds, in Victoria's bountiful fresh produce and in the passion and innovation of local chefs and producers they encounter.
